Square one

It sucks to face regression.
Last week was just survival sans caffeine… this week is about redemption.
Ok, so not totally square one… I’m not going through rehab or anything, but my body knows I’ve been taking it way too easy. Last week I got little more exercise than a paraplegic.

Removing caffeine messed with my motivation to do much more than breathing and sleeping– up till last week I was averaging about 800- 900 mg a day (about 3 times the RDA for caffeine). I’d sip on it before and during work, after lunch, then to pump me up before the gym, while I worked out, and in lieu of any nap my body needed.

If I had prepared to quit caffeine cold turkey, I would have clocked more time at the gym the week before. But I’m back, and it bites because yoga positions are harder, warm-up weights are heavier, and my legs are like lead during aerobics.

I hate feeling slow and weak, so it’s gym time.

What DO educators eat?

She asked if I was on a special diet, but I had a mouth full of broccoli, so instead of responding, I shook my head, no, and pretended not to be irritated.
Have we really come to a point in which people assume I’m on a “special diet” just because I eat fresh produce for lunch? I would have launched into the whole, “it’s a life-style, not a diet” lecture if she hadn’t escaped the table before I could swallow.

To be fair, some teachers actually do fill up on the healthy stuff at lunch, but lounges are usually swamped with of all sorts of processed crap. In fact, if you didn’t even bring a lunch you could just walk in and chow down on whatever junk food is sitting out on the table from some sort of meeting.

I beat the late day death spell.

It’s been a week since stripping caffeine from my diet, and up till now, afternoons have been the hardest to survive without stimulation.

Here’s how I got through the weekend:
Three hours of group exercise (step, pump, flow) on saturday… which bumped up my feel-good hormones (epinephrine, norepinephrine, dopamine, etc).
Then today the BF read to me and we napped… my new faveorite way to recharge.
I also went herbal tea shopping. These ones are slightly more amusing… still lame on the caffination scale, but whatev, at least I won’t be having an arrhythmia any time soon.
We’ll see how tomorrow goes … Body flow begins 5 ish.
